Don’t Miss It: Mandarin Oriental is Coming to the Caribbean

The next few years are expected to be big for Mandarin Oriental as they anticipate the completion of many developments. Known for properties reflecting Asian heritage, local culture and design, Mandarin Oriental, which operates 41 hotels, 12 residences and 26 homes across 26 countries to date, sets its eyes on the Caribbean. 

Of course, we can’t get excited about the future without seeing the present moment. This year, MO opened its Canouan property in St. Vincent & the Grenadines, which is MO’s first and currently the only property in the Caribbean. We just visited this past November (2025).

Mandarin Oriental Residences, Grand Cayman - Q1 2028

Slated to be Mandarin Oriental’s first new-build resort and residential project in the Caribbean, the MO property will host a 91-key hotel with 42 private residences, including Beach House and Ocean House collections. At the property, you'll be able to enjoy culinary experiences and wellness with their destination spa. The culinary experiences are as expected, to die for.

Additionally, residents of these properties will not only be granted an invitation to the Fans of M.O. Residences programme, but also will have access to the hotel’s range of amenities and offerings, including:

  • 67 acres of coastal gardens linked by nature trails and 700 feet of pristine white sand beach

  • Multiple adult and family pools

  • State-of-the-art wellness and yoga centre

  • Racquet club with tennis and pickleball

  • Ocean Pavilion offers five distinct dining destinations

  • Culinary farm

Mandarin Oriental Esencia, Puerto Rico - 2028

Puerto Rico's newest luxury destination is arriving at Boqueron Bay in Cabo Rojo just off the southwestern coast. The luxury resort with branded residences is set to be MO’s third property in the Caribbean, forming a new subset of a cosmopolitan coastal community, opening in 2028.

The property, which will feature 106 beautifully designed rooms with either a balcony, terrace, or private garden, is set to be nestled between rich biodiversity and immersive experiences. Guests will be able to enjoy famed landscapes like stunning beaches, protected mangroves, and serene lagoons, allowing guests the chance to enjoy breathtaking views, vibrant gastronomy, and sports and wellness activities.
